Term 2, Week 6, 2026
Reporting to Parents
Our teachers are presently working on completing a mid-year written report for each student and these will be available to parents on HERO in the first week of Term 3. We have been eagerly awaiting the new reporting templates and these were finalised just a week ago. In Term 3, two weeks after you receive your child’s report, we will hold Student Parent Conversations. This is an opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and ask any questions you may have about your child’s progress outlined in their report.
What will be included in the report
We will be reporting on your child’s progress against the new curriculum in Reading, Writing and Mathematics in the English pathway, Te Reo Rangatira and Pānagarau in Whānau Ata. We will be using five progress levels to describe your child’s learning progress. These are explained in the table below.
We will also be reporting on your child’s effort in each of the curriculum areas and there will also be a general comment from the teacher including the following:-
- Your child’s relationships with others
- Your child’s ability to practice our school values of kindness and respect
- Their transition to school if they are 5 years of age or have recently joined our school
Our reporting to you on your child’s progress has come a lot later than previous years and later than what we would have liked. This is due to the changes in our curriculum and the very late delivery of Ministry of Education reporting guidelines and templates. We thank you for your patience and want to reassure you that in the future you will receive information about your child’s progress a lot earlier than Term 3.
