Freemans Bay School runs an out of zone ballot for the following academic year every September – October.  Out of zone places offered for 2027 are limited by our classroom capacity and space in year groups.   As a result of this, we are offering 10 spaces in our new entrant class for 2027 for priorities 1-5 only.  Priority 6 applications are unable to apply.

If you have your children studying with us and have moved out of our zone, your children can continue to study at Freemans Bay School.  However, if your current student has a brother or sister turning 5 in 2027 and you want the brother or sister to attend Freemans Bay School, you do need to enter them in our out of zone ballot. We also welcome applications from siblings and children of former students as well as children of Board employees and the Board (priorities 1-5).  We are not offering any places in 2027 for children who reside outside of our zone who are priority 6.

The enrolment process differs slightly depending on the age of your child.

If your child is starting school for the first time, we would ideally like to have you digitally pre-enrol them by the time they are 4 1/2 years old. This helps us with our planning and organization.

For children who are older or changing schools, please digitally pre-enrol them as soon as possible to start the pre-enrolment process with us.

When you submit the digital pre-enrolment,  our enrolment officer will come back to you and request documents to ensure your child can enrol in our school.  Please note that we are happy to accept copies of original documents but all documents need to be translated if they are not in English (such as birth certificate or vaccination records).  These requested documents can include the following:

-Child and parents’ passports/visas (if born overseas)

-Date of entry stamp in the child’s passport (if born overseas)
-Child’s birth certificate
-Child’s immunisation record
-Signed current tenancy agreement OR latest rates
-1 recent proof of address which is a power or broadband bill in the parent’s name showing the child’s address

-Photo of the child

For New Entrants (Year 0-1), once your child’s pre-enrolment is completed, you will be invited to attend our interactive pre-school visit programme.  Parents are required to stay with their child for all visits.  Our lead teacher will discuss your child’s start date with you when arranging the pre-school visits.

For all other new students, once we have received all your documents and have advised you that your child is successfully pre-enrolled at Freemans Bay School,  parents (with the enrolling child) are asked to have an interview with the Principal, Deputy Principal or Associate Principals as part of the enrolment process. This way we can get to know you as a family and discuss the learning needs of your child. Once the interview is complete, we can discuss your child’s preferred start date at Freemans Bay School.
